I think every prepping blog has at least one new posting on Hurricane Sandy that has hit the East Coast of the USA, 14 foot tidal surge, with 90 MILE sustained winds, not sure on rainfall but its been coming down for 3 days.
effects of this are going to be interesting, rivers are yet to reach their peak and there is already a metre of water on the floor of the NY stock exchange which has led to it being closed for two days, its going to b a first if its closed for 3! public transit in particular subways are underwater.
with elections round the corner, who knows if riotting will cause martial law and no election..... or a 'diesease' breaks out with the sewage systems that are leakign into the oceans. there were also 5 nuclear power plants that were shut down precautionary, have not heard of any issue there though.
Its certainly the biggest disaster to hit since Japans tsunami, and I imagine it will have a massive major effect on the area for a very long time. Will be interesting to see how things progress, and would be great to hear back from any preppers that have been through it.

last two days have been amazing weather down south, makes up for the last 2 months! (fish in the fridge and vension hanging up again)
up to a foot of snow forecast for new york and the east coast of USA coing down from canada, will be fun for the 1million + still without power! (which in most cases means water, sewage and heating off as well)
guess we shall see how the re-elected Obama shall handle things with FEMA expecting to have a slashing of budgets
